TrailerTap uses AI to identify trailers from three input types: audio (record up to 30 seconds), screenshots (upload or snap), and social URLs (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X). Audio is transcribed with OpenAI Whisper, screenshots are analyzed with Claude Vision, and social URLs have their metadata extracted. The AI matches the result against film and TV databases to identify the title.

TrailerTap identifies trailers for movies and TV series. It works best with trailers that have spoken dialogue or distinctive audio cues. For screenshots, title cards, poster art, or recognizable scenes work well. Social media links from TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and X (Twitter) are all supported.

TrailerTap achieves high accuracy for trailers with clear spoken dialogue or distinctive visual cues. Brief background audio clips or heavily obscured screenshots may produce lower-confidence results — when that happens, TrailerTap will tell you and suggest trying again with a clearer input.

Once a trailer is identified, tap Add to Calendar to save the release date to your Google Calendar instantly. TrailerTap also sends an email the day before theatrical release, and a separate email the moment the film becomes available to stream. You need to be signed in to receive email reminders.

Yes. Signed-in users can save every identification to their library. Your library shows the poster, title, release date, and watch links for everything you've ever identified. Free (anonymous) users get a session history that resets when the browser closes.

After identifying a trailer, TrailerTap shows which streaming platforms currently carry the title — Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Max, Disney+, Peacock, Paramount+, and Apple TV+. For theatrical releases within 90 days, it shows Fandango and Atom Tickets links so you can buy seats directly.

Yes. TrailerTap is free — no signup required. Anonymous users get 3 free identifications per session. Creating a free account (Silver tier) removes that limit and unlocks the library, reminders, and calendar integration. Paid plans (Gold and Platinum) remove ads and unlock additional perks.

Gold ($0.99/mo or $8.99/yr) removes all ads and includes all Silver features. Platinum ($2.99/mo or $24.99/yr) includes everything in Gold plus priority processing and early access to new features. You can cancel anytime. Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period — no surprise charges. To cancel, email contact@trailertap.app with your account email and we'll handle it within 24 hours.

TrailerTap works in any modern browser on desktop, tablet, and mobile. It's also a Progressive Web App (PWA) — you can install it on your iPhone or Android home screen for a full app-like experience with offline caching.

Yes. Audio clips are processed ephemerally for transcription and are not stored by our AI providers. Screenshots are analyzed in-transit and not retained. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Common reasons: the audio clip was too short or had heavy background noise; the screenshot didn't contain a title card, poster, or recognizable scene; the content is very obscure or not yet in public databases. Try recording a longer clip with more spoken dialogue, or upload a screenshot that shows the title text clearly.

TrailerTap caches the app shell for fast loading. Trailer identification requires internet (it needs to send audio/images to our AI backend). Your past identification history is cached locally so you can browse it offline.

Android: Open TrailerTap in Chrome, tap the install banner or go to browser menu → "Add to Home Screen."

iPhone: Open in Safari, tap the Share button (box with arrow), then "Add to Home Screen." The app will appear on your home screen and launch full-screen.
